The Danville Area Training Center Recruit Academy is a 10-week apprenticeship program for the Danville Life Saving Crew. Classes are held Monday through Friday. Class times are 8:30am to 5:30pm. The apprenticeship is recognized by the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry. Support is received by Virginia Workforce and the Institute of Advanced Learning & Research (IALR).
Students in the Recruit Academy will be paid hourly during the training. This program is designed for those that wish to go straight from the classroom to the ambulance once they finish the class.
The Academy is more than just the EMT Class. We also complete training in Emergency Vehicle Operations (EVOC), Vehicle Rescue Awareness, Mass Casualty I&II, Traffic Incident Management Systems (TIMS), CPR , and NIMS. During the Academy, you will complete quizzes, exams, ride time on a DLSC ambulance, and lots of hands-on training in the classroom.
Keep an eye on this page for more information about the next Recruit Academy in 2025.
